Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA)

In operation Status as of 16 October 2026 · Funding type: Passenger or user fee

The October 2026 Federal Register notice sets ESTA's approved-authorisation charge at USD 40.62 from 16 October, replacing USD 40.27 1. The older CBP help page still displays the prior amount 2. This correction follows the dated legal notice rather than treating the help-page price as current. The record describes a public travel-authorisation programme, not a private supplier concession. Contract value, supplier identity, procurement route, data ownership and a supplier revenue share are not established by these fee sources. An application charge should not be described as a payment on every flight.
