Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)
In operation
The UK ETA is required by most visa-exempt visitors to the UK, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, and by some passengers transiting through UK border control. GOV.UK lists the fee at GBP 20 per person 1. Travel Weekly reported that changes laid on 16 January 2025 allowed the fee to rise from GBP 10 to GBP 16, part of a package the Home Office forecast would raise an extra GBP 269 million a year 2. The Local reported the ETA was introduced in 2023, compulsory by April 2025, and rose to GBP 20 from 8 April 2026 3. No vendor or system contract was found in the sources reviewed.
