Narita and Haneda Face Express passenger processing

In operation Status as of 16 July 2021 · Funding type: Not published

NEC announced facial-recognition passenger processing for Narita and Haneda airports on 25 March 2021. Face Express links a passenger's face with passport and boarding-pass information, allowing checks at subsequent airport touchpoints without repeatedly presenting those documents. 1 Japan Airlines reported that trials had run from April and announced full implementation from 19 July 2021 at Narita Terminal 2 and Haneda Terminal 3. Its 16 July release is evidence of the trial and a future launch date, not confirmation that launch had occurred. 2 The contract price, term and procurement method are unpublished in these releases.
